MEMBANGUN KETAHANAN ENERGI BERKELANJUTAN MELALUI PEMBERDAYAAN POTENSI PEMUDA INDONESIA

Abstrak

Sustainable energy security has emerged as a significant challenge for Indonesia amid increasing energy demand, the gradual depletion of fossil fuel reserves, and the growing urgency to transition toward renewable energy sources. Within this context, young people hold a strategic position as agents of change who can contribute to strengthening public awareness of environmental conservation and the sustainable utilization of energy resources. This study aims to examine efforts to enhance sustainable energy security by optimizing the potential and participation of Indonesian youth. A descriptive qualitative approach was adopted, with data collected through interviews and document analysis. The collected data were subsequently analyzed through a literature-based review of relevant academic and supporting sources. The findings reveal that young people, particularly those involved in nature- and environment-oriented communities, actively contribute to environmental preservation through various initiatives, including conservation programs, reforestation, environmental education, cleanliness campaigns, and the dissemination of environmental information through social media platforms. Such activities contribute to the preservation of natural resources that are essential for renewable energy development while simultaneously increasing public awareness of the importance of sustainable development. Moreover, sustained support from government institutions, educational institutions, and local communities is crucial for strengthening youth participation and encouraging the development of innovative programs and initiatives that contribute to national energy security. Therefore, empowering young people represents an important strategic approach to achieving a resilient, self-reliant, and sustainable energy security system in Indonesia. By providing greater opportunities for youth participation, innovation, and collaboration, Indonesia can strengthen its capacity to address future energy challenges while advancing its broader sustainable development objectives
