الملخص

Environmental degradation, pollution, climate change, and the exploitation of natural resources have become serious challenges that threaten ecosystem balance and the sustainability of life. These conditions highlight the need to strengthen ecological awareness, particularly among young people, who play a strategic role in promoting environmental sustainability. This study aims to analyze the transformation of students’ ecological awareness through a sharia–ecology approach in the Islam and Science course as an effort to promote sustainable ecosystem balance. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of learning activities, and were subsequently analyzed qualitatively and presented descriptively. The findings indicate that the implementation of in-depth discussion methods enhances students’ understanding of ecological issues, encourages higher-order thinking skills, and fosters awareness of their responsibility to protect the environment. The learning process not only develops conceptual understanding but also encourages students to take concrete actions toward environmental conservation and restoration. The integration of ecological knowledge and Islamic sharia values further strengthens the understanding that environmental conservation is part of humanity’s responsibility as khalifah on Earth. Islamic principles such as hima, harim, and ihya al-mawat provide ethical and spiritual foundations for environmental protection, sustainable management of natural resources, and ecological rehabilitation. Therefore, sharia–ecology-based learning through in-depth discussion can serve as a relevant approach to developing students with ecological knowledge, moral and spiritual awareness, and a strong commitment to ecosystem sustainability.
